“Great musicians are made through purposeful learning and the right guidance.”
John started playing guitar at thirteen and hasn’t stopped since. Over the years he’s performed across multiple instruments — guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and more — in settings ranging from church bands and corporate events to cover bands and original projects. He’s built live sound rigs from scratch, produced original recordings, and handled everything from stage lighting to video direction for live events.
He founded The Amateur Musician because he saw too many students lose interest in music by following rigid, one-size-fits-all lesson structures. His teaching philosophy is simple: understand what you actually want to achieve, and build every lesson around that. The result is students who leave every session with something real — a technique, a song, a concept — not just theory they’ll forget by morning.
